Small Business Development Center: the first stop
Small Business Development Centers are part of a national network partly funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration. In Idaho, the Idaho SBDC lists its Eastern Idaho office at 2300 North Yellowstone Highway, Idaho Falls, ID 83401 (Idaho SBDC locations page, checked 2026-10-16). The SBDC describes its consulting as no-cost and also offers training events and help with access to capital.
Go to the SBDC when you need a business plan reviewed, cash-flow projections built, or a loan package organized before you approach a lender. An adviser has no product to sell, which makes the SBDC a useful second opinion on any offer you receive.
Entrepreneurship and incubator centers
Entrepreneurship centers and incubators help early-stage owners with workspace, mentoring and introductions. They tend to suit businesses that are still testing a product or building a first customer base, before most lenders will consider them.
Regional planning and development districts
Regional planning and development organizations work across several counties. In many regions they also run business loan programs, often as gap financing alongside a bank loan; ask whether one is open before counting on it. If a bank will fund part of a project but not all of it, a regional district is worth asking about.
Chambers of commerce and downtown organizations
A chamber of commerce offers networking, referrals and advocacy rather than funding. Downtown development organizations focus on a district's property owners and businesses, sometimes with design or facade programs. Both are good sources of local referrals to accountants, attorneys and bankers.
Women's business centers
Women's business centers offer training and counseling with a focus on women entrepreneurs; ask any center whether it serves your area and your type of business.
State and federal agencies
Business entities are filed with the Idaho Secretary of State; its Idaho Secretary of State business services pages (checked 2026-10-16) cover formation, annual reports and business searches. Bonneville County's official website is bonnevillecountyidaho.gov. SBA-backed loans are made by participating lenders, not by the SBA directly, and the SBA's district office for Idaho can explain its programs.
A note on grants
Grants are outside what Oceanline Loans offers or arranges. Grants for ordinary for-profit small businesses are uncommon; an SBDC adviser is the right person to ask whether any program fits your business.
Where funding comes in
Once the plan and documents are in order, the six funding options are compared on one page, term loans cover project borrowing, and the Idaho Falls, ID page has the county's business figures. More reading is in the guide library.
